Liar Liar Pants on Fire  (Part 2)

(and maybe the rest later on but we pray not)

By Rev. Robert Liichow

After spending some time researching the religious channels on the television I was grieved by the obvious lies being told to the viewers by various recognized “Christian leaders. Lying is bad enough in any circumstance, and it is a sin of which we have all at one time or another violated. However, liars and their lies are most heinous when they lie in the name of our Lord.

Deceiving people in God’s name is as serious a crime against all that is holy that there is. Although it is not part of this article let me just say that I believe that the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit entails lying about God. One of the many titles of the Holy Spirit is (the Spirit of Truth, John 14:17). How does one blaspheme Truth? By lying against It. Of Whom does the Holy Spirit witness? Our Lord Jesus Christ [John 15:26], so lies told about Jesus Christ or in His name are indeed blasphemous in every circumstance.

God is light, in Him there is no darkness [1John 1:5]. For me there is no greater anchor for my personal faith in Christ Jesus than the foundation of knowing that my God does not tell lies, that His Word is true. Our Father does not quibble, shade the truth, spin the facts to make them into something they are not, nor does He obfuscate. Our God and Lord is truthful in all His sayings and doings. Here are just five examples out of hundreds:

Thou art near, O LORD, and all thy commandments are truth. (Psalm. 119:151)

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. (Daniel 4:37)

O Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. (2 Sam. 7:28)

The works of his hands are faithful and just, all his precepts are trustworthy (Psl. 111:7)

The statutes you have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy. (Psl. 119:138).

Everything God is and does has truth as its foundation, truth matters to God and it is equally true to say that our every lie has its foundation in Satan, the father of lies.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)

Every lie has its origins in Satan, even those tiny white lies that are told to not “hurt” someone’s feelings are the property of the damned. Jesus, being the Truth incarnate (1Jh. 1:14) never compromised the truth at the expense of the feelings or opinions of others. A great examples of this is seen in John chapter 6 (vv.51-65) where the multitude all leave Jesus after He plainly tells them that His flesh is food and His blood is drink and then He turns to the 12 and asks “are you going to leave too?” Jesus always delivered the truth in love (Eph. 4:15, as are we) but He lets the chips fall where they may (read Prov. 7:26).

One of the moral attributes of God is veracity. Veracity can be defined as follows:

The veracity of God may be described as that perfection in virtue of which He is true in His inner being, in His revelation, and in His relation to His people. It implies that He is the true God as over against the idols, which are lies and vanity; that He knows things as they really are and also enables man to know the reality of things; and that He faithfully fulfils all His covenant promises. This last aspect of God’s veracity is usually called His faithfulness. It is the ground of His people’s confidence, the foundation of their hope, and the cause of their rejoicing, Num. 23:19; 1 Cor. 1:9; 2 Tim. 2:13; Heb. 6:17; 10:23.

www.olivetreelibrary.com/cyclopedia/indes.php?title=Communicable_Attributes_of_God#The_Truthfulness_or_Veracity_of_God ).

The Bible from Genesis through the Revelation of Jesus Christ deal with liars, their lies and the consequences of their lies. In some cases the liars were (and are) God’s people, which goes to show that we are not immune from the natural propensity to lie.   As with all fleshly desires, the urge to lie when in some seeming dilemma must be crucified in us by looking unto Jesus—who is Truth in all its glorious totality (John 14:6) and seeking His grace.

The time will come when the mouths of all liars will be stopped and every knee shall bow and truthfully confess that Jesus (the Truth) is Christ (2 Phil 2:10). However, that time is not yet now. Now as God’s people we have been called out of spiritual darkness into the marvelous light and liberty in Christ (1 Pet. 2:9). We are called to bear witness to the light of Truth as seen in the face of Christ to a world wandering in darkness.

Do all things without murmurings and disputing: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; [HOW?] Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain. Phil. 2:14

Like it or not we are representatives of the kingdom of God. God is not using angels to proclaim His saving Gospel, nor is He appearing in the flesh at crusade meetings. God has chosen to use us as His ambassadors and representatives (2 Cor. 4:20) of His kingdom and His divine government. The actions and words of any ambassador is a direct reflection on their leader.

Every one of us is a living epistle known and read of all men (2 Cor. 3:2). People all around us are watching our actions and reactions, our words and attitudes. Do they reflect Jesus, ourselves or Satan? Although every Christian is under the microscope of the world to some degree, those of us in public ministry carry even a greater responsibility because of the focused attention placed on us as ordained ministers (always remember that a “minister” is really just a fancy title for “slave”).

God’s people are often referred to as sheep, those who serve as under shepherds (1 Pet. 5:2) will be leading God’s sheep either closer to Jesus Christ or farther away from Him, there is no middle ground. Either we gather or we scatter in God’s name (Mat. 12:30), neutral does not exist in God’s Kingdom. Either we are hot or cold, lukewarm does not get it (Rev. 3:16), for Him or against Him, either we are making a distinction between the sacred and profane (Eze. 44:23) or we are blurring the lines and destroying the borders between light and darkness.

Truth is fundamental in God’s dealings with humanity. Why? Truth is the basis for any genuine relationship. The fruit of truthfulness is trust and faith and an unfeigned love for the one making and keeping his or her actions and promises. If a person in a relationship tells a lie in one area and it is discovered (Num. 32:23) then doubt is cast on other areas of the relationship. Questions arise — after all if he or she lied about this, then other issues suddenly begin to be questioned. Lies both hinder the formation of genuine fellowship and lies can destroy relationships too.

God guards His integrity zealously. He is not a man that He should lie (Num. 23:19) He commands that His people DO NOT take His name in vain (Exo. 20:7) this includes making any type of statement in God’s name that He has not first authorized. What is more Our Lord demands DEATH for those who would dare to prophesy in His name when He in fact has not spoken.

But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. Deut. 4:20-23

God is not only concerned that we speak truthfully about Him to others but that we deal honestly with each other in our daily lives. This is why He commands us not to bear false witness against one another in the Eight Commandment (Exo. 20:16). Col. 3:9 reminds us to “not lie” to one another. When you combine just these few texts it is obvious what God expects us, His children, to be scrupulously honest in ALL our dealings period. Living this way, aka walking in the light, walking in the Spirit is what distinguishes us from the world. The love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 5:5) and when we allow His love to flow out of us then the world KNOWS that we are His disciples (Jh. 13:35).

Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD. LEV 19:14

Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen. Cursed be he that perverted the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen. Deut 27:18-19

Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips. Prov. 24:28

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Matt. 18:6

God has been concerned about the blind and ignorant, both naturally and even more so spiritually. If God calls the person cursed (ra) same Hebrew word used when God called Satan cursed in Genesis) who puts a stumbling block in front of a naturally blind man how much worse is His wrath towards one who misleads the spiritually blind?

Revelation 21:8

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death.

Having run through a brief discourse on the supreme importance of truth we see how central it is to our God and our lives as His people. We also have taken a quick glimpse at just some of what the Bible reveals about God’s attitude towards any form of lie. Keeping in mind Rev. 21:8, and knowing the Scripture cannot be broken (Jh. 10:35)  let’s consider some of the following claims and see if they meet the biblical smell test. All of the examples I cite are from internationally known and widely followed SINisters (not true ministers of Christ) not some unknown charismaniac flake. Actually, tens of millions of professing Christians follow these individuals and obviously believe the following accounts.

Tall Tales Told by Televangelists

Norval Hayes

By far one of the more entertaining of the charismatic false teachers. Norval is known for telling some of the most outlandish stories when relating miraculous stories. Here is a prime example: Jimmy the Midget Story

He stopped growing at the age of twelve. His family was normal. His parents took him to different doctors for help, but nothing worked…He and a friend were riding in a car, when it was hit head on by a drunk driver. His friend was killed. The impact loosened Jimmy’s leg bones and drove them through his hips until they were protruding out his back. The doctor couldn’t do anything for him. They said that he was a bunch of hamburger meat. They just put him in a room to die.

Jimmy had been unconscious since the wreck but in the middle of the night he woke up long enough to cry to God. He begged God to let him live.” You’ve been trying to get me to work for you, but I wouldn’t. I’ve never done anything for you, I’ve been rebellious Jesus, if You will heal me, I will work for You as long as I live.” To the doctor’s amazement, Jimmy woke up the next morning. They started tying two-pound weights on Jimmy’s feet to pull his bones back through his hips. In about a month, the bones were back in place….Through thinking Jimmy was asleep the doctor said, “It’s a shame what’s happened to this little fellow, I don’t know whether he will live or not; but if he does, he’ll never walk again. There’s no hope.” After nine months Jimmy went home for the first time. One day he was reading the Bible, he discovered 2 Timothy 1:7 – that the spirit of fear comes from the Devil! God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but the spirit of love, and the spirit of sound mind. When he read that, Jimmy said “Spirit of fear, I break your power over my life. I will walk again and be normal!!” Slowly, his body began to grow! Ten months and several pairs of new trousers later, Jimmy was six feet one inch tall!!!!. Taken from The Healing Handbook by Norvel Hayes. You may read the entire account online at http://www.christiancity.co.za/christian-articles/221-healing/193-qgod-you-are-my-healerq.html

I have personally heard Mr. Hayes tell this story in the past. Yet he has never introduced us to Jimmy! Here is a man who stopped growing, was in a critical car accident, yet months later comes out of it 6’1.” In fact, I have never seen or heard of Jimmy the former midget on the tent circuit, the now defunct PTL, TBN or even the 700 Club. Surely with such a wonderful testimony he would be somewhere or at least leave some evidence of this miracle.

Dr. Lester Sumrall

Lester was Norvel Hayes mentor and another stretcher of truth. Lester made a name for himself in the deliverance movement and was recognized as an expert when it came to casting out devils and demons. Here is a very “unique” account which burst the bonds of reality years ago.

The Disappearing Boy

The story of the invisible boy is true. It is a story to which I was intimately related. It is about a young Filipino boy who was tormented by an alien entity for more than a year. This spirit would cause him to disappear from a classroom at school or from his home. Cornelio’s father would nail the doors and windows shut, but Cornelio did not need natural openings to get in and out of the house…Cornelio and a friend were walking home one afternoon cutting across a large open space. Suddenly Cornelio stopped. His eyes were bulging out of their sockets. He was pointing ahead. He said: ‘See the girl in a long white dress? She is beautiful. She is calling me’. Cornelio left his friend and walked forward. Suddenly his friend saw Cornelio disappear from sight…Many times we would go to the movies and I knew no one could see us…Some other times we would eat at restaurants, and when the time came to have to pay, we would conveniently disappear…Then it’s the devil’s power’, Reverend Sumrall said. ‘I will pray for him’. ‘Lord Jesus, we plead Thy holy blood. We command the devil to come out of him. We break the devil’s power that this devil can get him no more. May he be surrounded with the blood of Jesus Christ. Be free in Jesus Christ’s Name. I believe it. Amen. Then Reverend Sumrall said to me; ‘Look up here Smile. May Christ’s blood surround you. The spirit cannot make you disappear again as long as you live’. Obtained at http://www.the-new-way.org/testimonies/guar_004_cornelio_closa_the_disappearing_boy.html

Sumrall wrote a booklet entitled The Disappearing Boy,  DMI has a copy in our archives. What is more there was also a documentary produced by Sumrall as well, which I have also seen. The account has no basis in Scripture. Satan never transported anyone anywhere in the Bible. We have the account of Phillip (Acts 8:39) being caught away via the Spirit of Truth, but Satan and demons lack the power to do such things. Maybe that is why we can’t find Ben Ladin, demons keep moving him around supernaturally! Perhaps we should ask Satan why he did not transport Hitler to Argentina or move Pol Pot to North Korea?

David Hogan

A virtual unknown until the latest wave of charismatic craziness became the flavor-of-the-month in the mid 1990’s. Today every charismatic extremist knows and applauds this man’s marvelous miracle ministry of power! Watch how a “little leaven” (1 Cor. 5:6) quickly expands regarding this man’s claims: Mr. Resurrection Power

David decided to go after God for His power to see the miraculous to see ‘signs following’ instead of only religious hypocrisy. He began to seek God to raise the dead. After four years of intense prayer and fasting he saw the first person receive ife after having died, this miracle by the power of prayer to God. God has since allowed him to be present on 28 different occasions to date where people of all backgrounds have been raised from the dead. In the work now there have been over four hundred people who have received this life after dying. Obtained from Hogan’s official web site http://www.freedom-ministries.us/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=32&ltemid=43

This statement initially declares Hogan ha been present at 28 resurrections and then goes on to say that his merry band of miracle workers (20) have raised 400 people from the dead! Hogan also preaches the false doctrine of complete physical healing now in this life and a death apart from any disease as being the only scriptural way to die. He proclaims that if any of his followers die due to sickness, no big deal, because Hogan and his mighty men of power will raise them up, heal them, and then let them die!

Cos see I believe you can die, but you just can’t die sick. I don’t think it’s scriptural. So that’s what I teach my people. If you die, that’s all right but we’re going to raise you from the dead, and you’re going to get healed, then you can die. Well, brother Hogan, I can’t quite swallow that doctrine. I know, that’s why you’re not raising the dead. I do already know that. You don’t have to tell me. Every part of the human body, we’ve had the honour to see it healed and restored, re-created. Every part, Every limb, every organ, everything. Isn’t that something? What gives me the authority to talk to you is Jesus. But when that demon hit my son and killed him deader than a hammer right there in my wife’s arms, he was dead for four hours. Four hours my little boy was stiff dead in the little room while we were praying and believing God. And after a while he came back to life. God brought him back. But it took us asking, believing and receiving. It took us being diligent it took us not wavering. Doubt, fear, unbelief. All the things that are normal to attack you when you’re trying to do something for Jesus were there. Had unbelievers that had – obtained from http://clublet.com/why?DavidHoganAtCOCMansfieldBrisbaneAustralia7thOct1994

Yes my dear saints if we too were free from our doubt, fear and unbelief then we too could raise people from the dead, even our family members! Note Hogan’s huge lie of seeing every part of the human body healed and or re-created (I.e. they were missing an organ or limb).

From: Tyene Gary 09-Feb-1998 Subject: Raised From the Dead Dear Richard, A couple of months ago we had a pastor from Southern Mexico come to our church and speak, his name is David Hogan. Listening to the man speak was like sitting at the feet of one of the original disciples. They have 216 resurrections from the dead in their ministry. His accounts of the miracles were mind stretching to say the least. He walks in an area of faith that not many are willing to pay the price to get. He had story after story (I think our pastor, Frank Damazio, asked him and David said there were 1500 accounts of miracles) of signs and wonders and miracles that have taken place. Obtained from a PDF file entitled “How to Raise the Dead” and consists of a series of emails written to Richard Riss, the foremost Pentecostal historian alive today, at least from within the movement itself. Riss endorses virtually all of the charismatic excesses and testimonies.

Mr. Riss has lost all objectivity when it comes to discerning any type of manifestation and he lacks biblical clarity when it comes to examining doctrine.

Some time back a friend of DMI, Pastor Richard Fisher wrote an article on Dave Hogan here are some of the claims Fisher uncovered:

1. He raises people from the dead;

2. He is thrown supernaturally across rooms into walls;

3. He multiples food;

4. He drives his vehicle underwater;

5. Angels are assigned to him and have to go where he goes;

6. He is miraculously transported from place to place without the aid of planes, trains, or automobiles;

7. He is invigorated when new demons are unleashed on him;

8. A demon has tried to tear out the innards of his child;

9. He has a little son who has a hanky that is so anointed he can make people fly just by shaking it at them;

10. He has seen limbs grow on limbless people;

He has seen the creation of new brains in a brainless baby; You can read the entire article at http://www.pfo.org/exploits.htm

David Hogan is a pathological liar and a psychopath in my humble opinion. Why any pastor would invite such a person to speak from the pulpit is beyond me. Hogan for all of his growing claims (these claims get wilder with each passing year) has provided absolutely no proof of any of his claims. He has personally claimed to have raised more individual people from the dead than are recorded in the entire biblical record! He has claimed to seen and worked signs and wonders that surpass those of the Book of Acts! Yet he is welcome in thousands of churches. He can be seen on YouTube teaching on how to develop faith to raise the dead. He is a false brother, a wolf in sheep’s clothing and you would do well to WARN anyone you know about him. This man is about as shameless as they come.

Jesse Duplantis

Undoubtedly the funniest of the charismatic charlatans, a winsome prevaricator, one whose lips have but a fleeting acquiescence to the truth — Mr. I’ve Been to Heaven.

I have personally written extensively in the past about Mr. “Duplicitous” Duplantis. In fact, DMI was the ministry that exposed his globally best-selling book/revelation of heaven as a plagiarized work from a long dead author. [Hmmmm, got your curiosity up? Good!, then visit http://www.newdiscernment.org and click on the link to our blog and search for “Duplantis.” Thanks be to God for the tremendous efforts of Mrs. DuBois in creating and maintaining our blog.)

Trusting you have or will visit the Blog and research Jesse I will not take space to recite all his claims, but here are some of them, duly cited on the Blog. Jesse claims 1). To have been teleported in his car across the state of LA;  2) to have seen angels in a meeting, everyone but Jesse were slain in the spirit by them;  3) that Abraham is the 1st person we meet in heaven;  4) that King David regrets some of what he wrote in the Psalms; 5) God the Holy Spirit is currently absent in heaven, due to Him being on earth; 6) pre-incarnate spirits fly around the dead of Father God! Much, much more can be read in his book Heaven, Close Encounters of the God Kind.

This man is not only a lair and thief, but a blasphemer when in his book he reveals that the blood of Jesus is not enough to perfect us for all time (see Heb. 12:23) but we have to engage in certain works in order to become spiritually stron so we can view God’s face!!!! I KID YOU NOT! His book has gone GLOBAL. He is on You Tube {an internet free vidoe location}, he sells his book, tapes, and dvd’s of his experience —WHICH DMI PROVED HE STOLE!! Nonetheless, Duplantis is a regular darling on TBN (aka The Blasphemy Network) and a HIGHLY paid guest teacher globally. He too is a proven LIAR proven FALSE TEACHER and one whose writings, recordings and meetings should be avoided at all costs unless they comprise the “fiction” section of your home library.

Here is another example of boldfaced lying that has paid off richly in worldly dividends. Baxter has written a series of three books (all reviewed by DMI) claiming out-of-body experiences of Heaven and Hell. According to Baxter hell is shaped in the literal form of a woman; Satan has a bride in hell; demons play games with the bones of the damned, etc…All this and more can be read in her A Divine Revelation of Hell. DMI sincerely prays for her repentance and that she never truly sees hell. She too is a global speaker and is widely published in several languages.

Truth Matters to God and it should be as equally valued by us as His people. How can we explain the phenomena of millions of professing Christians being so biblically ignorant as to believe the obvious lies these and a host of other self-proclaimed prophets, apostles, and teacher spew? Hinn cannot prove any miracles or healings yet multitudes follow him.  Slyvania Machado was proven to be using god micro flake in her meetings, calling it “gold dust” yet even after her expose she still is in demand!

NONE of the people mentioned in this article, and I could have showcased many others; have REPENTED of their false teachings or practices. NONE of them has ever recalled any tapes, books or cd/dvds due to doctrinal error. ALL of them are aware of what DMI has detailed in this issue. There are many (thanks be to God) web sites that are also on the wall, crying out to the Church along with DMI’s voice.

My dear brothers and sisters it is a terrible sin to lie at all, but it is even worse to do so in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. People’s spiritual lives have been destroyed due to false doctrine, false practices, false prophetic words, etc…Please warn those around you about these and others who lie in the name of our God.

CHANGES

I have mentioned in the past concerns I have had with our local Post Office. So I want to inform you of a change DMI is making. Please note the change of address on the donation envelop, yes that small white, often neglected envelop.

Also all checks written to DMI are deposited into our bank. On the back of each check will be written “deposit only.” If you have ever received back checks cashed in any other location then your check was stolen. I do not know if this is a problem on our end or not. This much is a fact — donations have been slowing down to a mere trickle, so I believe the best of our readers and can only assume that there has been some error on the Postal end.
